[SINGLE/DIG SINGLE - J/KPOP] Ayumi Hamasaki ▪ You were... / BALLAD | B2ST ▪ Crazy
HELL YEAAAAH! The queen of J-Pop Ayumi Hamasaki's new single is out alreadey. "You were... / BALLAD" is a completely winter-themed release, from the gorgeous covers to the songs themselves. Title track "You were...", which is the Japanese theme for Disney Tinkerbell movie, sounds like a Christmas-influenced song but is still too similar to "Together When..." imo. The verses and choruses are beautiful but they're all very predictable, we know what will happen on the entire song. And that's why this remains as my less-played-new-Ayu-song, it feels a bit odd and dated after some plays. On other hand we have "BALLAD", a traditional and Enka styled song, which is full of awesome. More like an epic and classical version of "GREEN", but of course in a slower tempo. I love it a lot. "RED LINE - for TA" is amazing, her vocals sound very good (no endless vibratos!) and the arrangement sounds like a mix between "A Song for xx" and "Daybreak". Overall, it's a nice change from the first tracks. New versions of "You were..." (note that the vocals in this mix is different than the original one) and "Sunset - LOVE is ALL" are also damn good. ★ Please forgive me for taking a moment to recommend my Japanese shopping agent and supplier, Iori. Incredibly reliable and very patient with any of your queries, I've been able to count on him whenever I desperately needed something from Japan. Thanks~ ;) First of all, these are CD-rips and much better quality than the 320kbps leaks. There are three editions for this single, but between the regular edition and first press limited edition B, all tracks are covered. Tracks only found on LE:B were ripped by sumo_mona. Personally I’m not a fan of all the B-sides however Loveless knocked me over quite literally (ever since the previews came out on Ria's birthday, of all days! XD). Although my favourite is the instrumental, the title track itself is still beautiful. It’s a mid-tempo ballad-style R&B number and absolutely gorgeous with the PV. Loveless was written by Jin Nakamura, who composed EXILE’s Lovers Again (among others) and THSK’s Proud (among others)… so this guy really delivers. The interlacing of the piano and delicate acoustics with the R&B beat works so well and is a recipe for perfection. The instrumental has re-inspired me to play piano again. My friends complained that the song would’ve been better with another singer, and while I agree on some level, I also disagree. It somehow works BECAUSE of Yamapi’s voice, ironically. ^^;; Three years after his first and only solo release, Yamashita Tomohisa returns with a very different and matured second single – it’s not typical Johnny’s Jpop, but the melody and instrumental (of Loveless) is unrivalled. The rest of the tracks don’t really match the single at all, unfortunately. :(

I was extremely surprised when this popped out in my Friends' page some days ago. Unfortunately, the quality was like shit so I finally managed to find cd-rip quality! ★ Ria's Top 20 Songs of 2009
It's that time of the year again when Popsicalove's Stacey and Ria rank their Top Songs of the year! This has become a Popsicalove tradition since it started in 2007. ^^ I just don't know where Stacey's 2007 Ranking is. Maybe she posted it in her private journal. Oh that girl... haha!!! I feel like apologizing for this long entry! It turned out to be an EPIC, something to rival Mahabharata! HAHAHA! But please help me indulge on this one, which took me 5 hours to compose!!! ^^ I don't talk too much so I hope you'd understand if I just do it once a year. XD Last year, I did 15 but this time, I ended up with 20. @_@ Ok, I hope you enjoy reading my Top 20~ <3 Ria's Top 20 Songs of 2009
01 Utada - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI --> Wins by an epic landslide! XD NO DEBATE IS NEEDED TO SETTLE IF THIS IS MY NUMBER ONE SONG OF 2009. Utada is a genius for sampling Ryuichi Sakamoto's Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence in the song. If by any chance you haven't listened to Utada's FYI, I don't know where you've lived this 2009! XD I must say that deciding on my number 1 song in 2009 was the easiest but settling on the succeeding songs was very hard.
02 Utada - Come Back to Me --> Before we heard FYI, we were teased with this song! SO BEAUTIFUL! I first listened to this song in the office and my officemate and I were intoxicated with it. We were joking that listening to this song makes us want to cheat on someone. LOL! XD
03 2NE1 - Fire --> Fiiiiiiiiiiiiyaaaaaaah~ Hot song! I admit that, at first, I was turned off because Dara's voice was synthesized but I got over it and just enjoyed the song! The instrumental is so awesome, by the way!!! <3 It can stand on its own.
04 Yamashita Tomohisa - Loveless --> WINNER!!! Must listen~ <3 WAH! It's a two consecutive year-win for Yamapi!!! Last year, Yamapi's MOLA placed in my Ranking! ^^ This song's piano instrumental is so beautiful!!! <3 I was already feeling hopeless of my 2009 Ranking but then this song came (November 18, 2009), and it changed 2009 for sure! :D Actually, after this song was released, there were a few other songs that proved to be worthy of a place in my Ranking. haha! Talk about a win from behind!
05 G-Dragon - Heartbreaker, Breathe, and Butterfly --> I couldn't bear separating these three songs so I decided to just give them a tie!!! When I first listened to G-Dragon's Heartbreaker album, it was really Butterfly that pulled me in. Heartbreaker and Breathe were so awesome too but I guess I thought the former is going to be "everyone's favorite" as it's the title track while the latter sounded similar to it. GD's album is my fave Kpop album of 2009!!! Great album overall! <3 Awesome work, GD! One of these days, we'll post an instrumental from his album. I think we've kind of overloaded you with so much YG Music in the past days. hehe! By the way, which instrumental version would you prefer: Heartbreaker, Breathe, Butterfly, or Hello?
06 BoA - UNIVERSE feat. Crystal Kay & VERBAL (m-flo) --> Initially, it was 永遠 (Eien) that I loved but when the full single was released, this song surpassed Eien. I looped it so much on my player. I love you I want you it's borderless~ Ok, I've decided to give Eien and UNIVERSE a tie because Eien also deserves it.
07 Khalil Fong - Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You --> My fave song off Khalil Fong's Timeless album. <3 This is a bittersweet song for me because it reminds me of something that happened this year. ^^; hehe! Sometimes, I still get sad whenever I listen to this song. The world may change my whole life through but nothing's gonna change my love for you~
08 2PM - All Night Long --> *goes crazy* I LOVE THIS SONG A LOT! <3 It's very Ria-y in so many levels! hehe! This was one of the songs I heard playing in the CD shop that proved to be very influential in making me buy 2PM's 01:59PM album!
09 Kim Tae Woo - Faster --> If my memory serves me right, I got Kim Tae Woo's T-Virus album because I saw it in the Top 3 Bestsellers at Hot Tracks. I was curious. hehe! I didn't preview any of the songs and was very pleased when I got the album and listened to the tracks! Faster stood out! Really love the beats in this one! 사랑비 (Love Rain) was a hit in Korea but it just didn't hook me. :)
10 Brian - 내 여자 (My Girl) --> Better late than never! Brian releases his 2nd solo album Manifold before 2009 goes to a close! :D The intro just pulls you in and you won't be able to let go of the song. The beats are so Ria-y! Great great great song from Brian!!! <3 I love the "내 내 내 여자" in the chorus! haha!
11 Girls' Generation - Gee --> Girls' Generation opened 2009 with this song! I loved it the first time I heard it. It's very addicting and you can't help but play the song in your head. haha! Gee gee gee~
12 AJOO - 재벌 2세 (WEALTHY 2nd GENERATION) --> OK, so where has this boy gone to?!?!?!?! I thought he was going to be active this year because this song wins so much! hehe! The song was quite controversial and the MV made me watch it with my hands in front of my eyes. LOL!!! I hope AJOO makes a comeback in 2010. *crossfingers*
13 BoA - Energetic (Radio Edit) --> I love this song because of the line Watch me do it with no hands~! I'm so amused at it and I can't pinpoint why! XD I was tempted to put Did Ya and I Did It For Love in my Ranking but I decided to just pick one among the three. Actually, those three BoA songs from her US debut album are my fave tracks. ^^
14 Park Jin Young - Come Over --> All the songs in JYP's Sad Freedom album are so good that it was a bit hard to choose which I'd put in my Ranking. I like the "water droplet" sound in this song. haha! I really admire JYP's music-making skills! This makes him go above the other Kpop label CEOs out there.
15 Vanness Wu - KODOKU --> Off his 2nd Japanese single. Vanness pulls off this ballad-y song so well. It's so soothing to the ears. The guitar accompaniment is really nice and the way Vanness sings this song reminds me of Minwoo. :D Hm, actually, I think this song reminds me of something Minwoo-y.
16 Seo In Guk - 달려와 (Run to Me) (Rally Ver. 2) (With Bigtone) --> A very Ria-y song. Seo In Guk is a very Ria-y singer. hahaha!!! XD And I quote Stacey, "This is SO YOUR music! *can't get over how "Ria" his music is* :P" Love it when Stacey is being supportive of my endeavors. LOL!!! XD
17 Lady Collection - 훔쳐보기-슬픈말 (Watch Secretly – Sad End) --> Unexpected as I thought I was only going to hear ballad tracks in Lady Collection's debut mini album. Former YG Family-er Kim Ji Eun's voice stands out! ^^ I think Stacey might like this one because of the piano instrumental.
18 Koda Kumi - JUST THE WAY YOU ARE --> A surprise! I downloaded Koda Kumi's TRICK album because of Stacey's rambling about it and I was surprised that I liked the album! I'm not really a fan of Koda Kumi even though I've posted several of her concert performances before. hehe! I have this image of Koda Kumi in my head that I thought she doesn't do this type of song. hehe!
19 MBLAQ - G.O.O.D Luv --> A few days after this group's debut, I already saw them perform! How lucky! haha! They sang Oh Yeah and G.O.O.D Luv so I was very pleased! I love that this is a happy song! Aside from beat-y songs, I'm also drawn to happy songs. heeeheeee~
20 BEAST - Oasis --> Another very Ria-y song. I think by now, you'd know my type of songs. hehe! ^^ I think the one who sang the first stanza opened this song quite well. His voice "wakes" you up.
EXTRA: JJ Lin - X --> Didn't manage to get in my Ranking but is worth mentioning. :D Stacey's going to purchase JJ Lin's new album, 100 Days, where this song came from, so please just wait for a rip of it.

Dong Bang Shin Ki spent the first half of 2009 touring around Asia for their 3rd Asia Tour - Mirotic, which kicked off in Seoul in February and brought them to Thailand, China, Taiwan, and Japan. This DVD release is recorded from the group's concerts at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium on February 20 to 22. Naturally, the guys performed many of the songs off their Mirotic album including HEY! (Don't bring me down), CRAZY LOVE, and Wrong Number, but they also made room for older dance hits like Rising Sun and Purple Line and remix versions of perennial favorites Hug and Balloons, adding up to a whopping 34 live tracks!All five members also presented solo stages. Micky sang and played the piano himself for his self-composed Love Bye Love. Xiah Jun Su thrilled audiences by unveiling his self-penned namesake dance number Xiahtic. U-Know Yun Ho not only wrote his solo Checkmate, he also choreographed the dance! Hero Jae Joong charmed all with his beautiful vocals again with the rock ballad "It's My World", and maknae Max Chang Min changed things up with his English solo Upon This Rock. In addition to TVXQ's Seoul Mirotic concert, this 3-DVD release comes with loads of other extras. Disc 2 includes concert making of with rehearsal, backstage, and interview footage. Disc 3 is the long-awaited DVD release of TVXQ's second theatrical drama "Dating on Earth", along with outtakes and deleted scenes. Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! Are you all ready for Christmas day? :) This time it's an old clip of Hamasaki Ayumi and Gackt singing Silent Night (my fav Christmas carol!). You get to see one street intersection where it was aired live on a huge screen, and it was cute seeing all the pedestrians stopping to watch it. :P Ayu sounded so lovely here. It's such a sweet duet. ^^

Meisa Kuroki - Do you know her?
Hello! I noticed how some people don't know Meisa Kuroki (or even doesn't noticed how good she is). She's such an awesome girl: Model, Actress and now Singer. As a singer, she needs your support. I'm bringing here some information (and downloads as well) for you to get to know her more and share your love~ ♥ If this post seems important to you, please, re-post it with credits to spread the word! :D Please, be patient and read the entire post, ok? ♥ About her Kuroki Meisa is a Japanese model, actress, and singer. She models primarily for the magazine JJ. Kuroki Meisa was originally a member of the Okinawa Actors Studio group B.B.WAVES, and in February 2004 made her official acting debut starring in the stageplay "Butai Atsumi Satsujin Jiken Heijou kara Kita Onna Keiji" with the theatre group Kitaku Tsukakouhei. The same month she debuted as a model for JJ. She continued to model for the magazine and obtained more and more drama roles, with her film career beginning in 2005. Kuroki has also continued to be a stage actress, and in 2005 and 2006, starred in the stageplay adaptation of "Azumi" and its sequel as Azumi. Kuroki made her singing debut in 2008 with the digital release of the song "Like This," which is being used for TOSHIBA's Sportio/W62T commercials. Kuroki is on the Sony Music label, but it is unknown when or if the song will be released physically. Meisa had originally sung in the 2007 drama Crows ZERO, but not under her birth name. ★ Foxxi misQ (single) (PV)
Foxxi misQ is a female trio who've been around since 2006 but have only one album and this was their seventh and latest single (released last year! ;_;). Their music is Jpop R&B and hip hop and I've read that they're considered Japan's Destiny's Child but forgive me if I really don't see the resemblance. I like them without needing to consider them an equivalent to anyone. LAST CHRISTMAS (mash up by Foxxi misQ) is another cover of the original Last Christmas (Japan loves this song, eh?) and by far my favourite version of Last Christmas. It's not a ballad, it's not cheesy. It's happy and catchy and feels different and the best. This is my favourite Christmas pop song! I REALLY ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO TRY IT OUT!!! <333 Everyone needs to know about this!!! Guh~ LISTEN TO IT, you won't regret it!!! n_n The backing is so fun and lovable - the intro is actually my SMS ringtone. :D Individual link available but I recommend downloading the whole single.
